Mold testing

Mold, read through a scientist.

Spores, mycotoxins, water-damaged building material. Sample once, read what the lab finds, decide what to do next.

What we look for

The full panel.

  • Whole-home dust DNA panel

Dust-based qPCR screen for 36 mold species, scored against a national index. Collect with the included Swiffer cloth, or choose a vacuum dust cassette.

  • Air cassette

Spore-trap impaction sampling for total spore count and identification by type.

  • Surface swab / tape lift

Direct sampling of visible growth or suspect surfaces for species ID.

  • Mycotoxin urine panel

Occupant-side test for select mycotoxin metabolites. Optional add-on; doctor's order may be required by state.

How it works

From kit to report.

  1. 01 · Pick the sample type

Whole-home dust for the full picture, cassettes for room air, swabs for visible growth. The recommendation strip on the product page walks through which fits which question.

  2. 02 · Collect and ship

Kit ships with guided instructions and a return mailer. Collection takes 10–30 minutes depending on type. Drop the sealed kit at any post office.

  3. 03 · Reviewed and reported

Lab returns raw data. The result is read through the BioDwell Scientific Review and returned as a written report with what to do next.

A mold result without context is a list of numbers. The point of reviewing it is to translate counts and species into a sentence: this is what's likely happening in your home, and this is what to do about it.

Who this is for

Best fit when…

  • Households noticing persistent musty smells or symptoms in a specific room
  • Property owners post-leak who want a baseline before remediation
  • Buyers and sellers running a pre-purchase or pre-listing screen
